Bruins vs Blackhawks

the game last night was a very emotional game for the players and the city of Boston. Two Boston firefighters were killed in a fire in the back bay. So the Bruins felt determined to win this game for the people of Boston. The last time the Bruins and the Blackhawks met the hawks won the game in a shootout in Chicago. The Bruins came out slow in the first period but Patrice Bergeron scored a goal to get the B's going. Tuukka Rask played phenomenal against the Hawks and shut them out. The bruins won 3-0 and Tuukka Rask has the most shutouts of any goalie in the NHL. Tuukka was named  the 3rd star of the game for his shutout. Patrice Bergeron was named the 2nd star of there game with 2 goals including the game winner. But the first star of the game was giving to the Boston fire department which got a huge reaction from the TD Garden and all the players.

Bruins winning streak

The Boston Bruins have been on a tear in the past two weeks. They won 13 games in a row which is a season record for the most games won in a row. The Anaheim Ducks held that record before with a 10 game winning streak. The entire Bruins team has played with so much energy and intensity that they have literally been unbeatable. Jarome Iginla has played his best games of the entire season with 8 goals and 1 assist in  6 games. The Bruins are hoping that this late season streak will carry over energy into the playoffs.

New England sports

The Boston Bruins topped the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 in last nights game which was an important win for the Boston Bruins. The two goal were scored by Zdeno Chara and Jarome Iginla. Chara with his 16th of the year and is leading the Bruins defensemen in goals. Iginla had his 21st goal of the year and is tied for 1st with the most goals on the team with Brad Marchand. The Bruins penalty kill was decisive because they killed off all 6 which help them win the game. 


The 2013 World Series Champions the Boston Red Sox will begin their season in just 2 short weeks at their home stadium, Fenway Park. Darelle Revis was traded to the New England Patriots which should help that Patriots next year in the post season. Also the Patriots Cornerback Aquib Talib was traded to the Denver Broncos.

NHL games and news

  Their were many great games yesterday throughout the entire NHL. The Boston Bruins topped the Washington Capitals 3-0 and Tuukka Rask had his sixth shutout of the regular season. The last time these two teams met the Capitals beat the Bruins in their own building 4-2 so the Bruins redeemed themselves last night in the Boston Garden. The St. Louis Blues beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 and Ryan Miller is playing well in the net for his new team. The Dallas Stars blew out the struggling Vancouver Canucks 6-1. Tyler Seguin for the Dallas Stars had a 5 point night with 3 goals and 2 assists. The Colorado Avalanche beat the Detroit Red Wings in overtime in their own building 3-2. The Avalanches young fast team prevailed against experienced Red Wings. Andre Benoit scored the OT game winner with 32 seconds left in the period. Also yesterday Nicklas Lidstrom's Number 5 was retired for the Detroit Red Wings before their game against the Avalanche. Lidstrom was a fantastic hockey player who won the Norris trophy 7 times and also won 4 Stanley Cup's with Detroit.


     Their have been a lot of controversial trades before the trade deadline. The long time Tampa Bay Lightning Martin St. Louis who was also the captain was traded to the New York Rangers. The captain of the Rangers Ryan Callahan was traded to the Lightning along with a 1st and 2nd round draft picks. The Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo was traded to the Florida Panthers and is now the starting goaltender and Tim Thomas is now his back up. Thomas Vanek was traded to the Montreal Canadiens which should help the Habs in the post season. Steven Stamkos was named the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning because of the trade of Martin St. Louis.
